Run a Race
Mar/040
Today I woke up at 7:00am jumped in the car and drove to Selinsgrove. I then ran a 5K race. It was my first race in about 3 and 1/2 years. I haven’t even ran two days in a row for probably 1 and 1/2 years. Even though I stayed up until about 2:30am, something was just telling me I ought to go out and run.
I don’t really like running all that much but I also don’t hate it. It hurts, it makes you tired, it makes you sweaty, and it is great. Yes, even though it isn’t my favorite activity, it is still great. There is something about finishing a run, even a small one that just makes you smile. The fact that you get your body moving for so long and so far. It really is an amazing feeling.
My time was very slow and I could feel throughout it all that I was extremely out of cardio-shape but I finished it without stopping (except when I dropped my glove and had to step backwards to pick it up). I also got 3rd place for my age-group which was really nice. To add to that I got a nice little door price with a bunch of nice little gifts.
I’m glad I woke up this morning at 7:00am.
